Tom Izzo is married to Lupe Marinez Izzo. Lupe is originally from Texas but grew up in East Lansing, Michigan. So, it’s not surprising where Lupe met her future husband.
Tom, as we all know, is a successful college basketball coach. He has been the head coach for the Michigan State Spartans men’s basketball team since 1995. Following his massive contribution to the team, he was elected to the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.
Tom has been able to earn a nickname “Mr. March” by some people on the basis of his success in the NCAA Tournament. He has led the Spartans to the 2000 NCAA Division I National championship, 2009 NCAA National Championship game, 7 Final Fours, 9 Big Ten Championships and 6 Big Ten Tournament Championship in two and half decades.

He has been very successful but as we all know behind the success of every man there is a great woman to go along. So, let’s know something about his wife Lupe Marinez Izzo.
Tom and Lupe met for the first time in East Lansing, Michigan. He met Lupe by way of her sister in law. Both worked for the team at this point while Tom was still an assistant coach. Lupe’s sister-in-law met her and the rest is history.
In their first date, Tom invited Lupe to a Michigan State game. After some years of dating, they got married in 1992 at St. Thomas Aquinas Parish. Two years later, they welcomed their first daughter named Raquel. A couple of years later, Lupe and Tom adopted their son Steven who is six years younger than his sister Raquel.
Apart from supporting her husband, Lupe is involved in a business venture in Haslett, Michigan called Haslett Hot Yoga. She is also involved in charity. The couple has donated $1 million to Michigan State University.
