Colt McCoy is an American football quarterback who currently plays for the Washington Redskins of the National Football League.
Colt McCoy’s Career:
Born on September 5, 1986, in Hobbs, New Mexico, McCoy went to Jim Ned High School in Texas. He then went to University of Texas at Austin, where he played for Texas Longhorns football team from 2005 to 2009. He won the team’s MVP all four years, the only player to do so in school history.
During his time at college, he won the 2008 Walter Camp Award, was the 2008 Heisman Trophy runner-up and 2009 Heisman finalist. In his senior year, he won 13 of the top 15 major college player awards where he also won prestigious awards like a quarterback of the year, offensive player of the year and outstanding footballer of the year.
Regarding his professional career, he was drafted in the third round as the 85th overall pick by the Cleveland Browns in the 2010 NFL Draft. He agreed to a four-year-long term on a $5 million contract.
On April 1, 2013, the Browns traded McCoy to the San Francisco 49ers. But he stayed there one year before signing with Washington Redskins in 2014. On March 9, 2016, McCoy signed a three-year contract extension with the Redskins and on July 26, 2018, he signed a one year, $7 million contract extension with the Redskins to be their backup through the 2019 season.
