Galina Becker was born on 11th March 1987, in Jacksonville, Florida, United States. Becker grew up in an athletic family as most of her siblings and family members were involved in sports of some kind including track. She studied at Mt. Pleasant High School and was heavily involved in hurdles and jump events. She was regarded as the most valuable performer in her team.
