Basketball or Nothing is a documentary series which follows the Chinle High Basketball team in Arizona’s Navajo Nation on a quest to win a state championship. The show mainly focuses on Coach Raul Mendoza as he tries to take his team to the championships and beyond.
One of the stars on the show was Cooper Burbank who has a dream of becoming a Division 1 player. He was a sophomore at Chinle High school while they were filming the documentary series and is now a junior.
Cooper grew up in the small town of Red Mesa, Arizona. His mother Joni is a school teacher. She was the one to encourage him to go to the bigger Chinle High School for a greater challenge. Cooper was interested in basketball from an early age. He idolizes Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant.
As a basketball player for Chinle High School, he was named one of the top prep players in the state. He is leaders in the team and averages 21.4 points per game and is instrumental in Chinle’s 18-4 record this season.
Since the day, Cooper stepped on the campus he has proven he has a bright future. Although he is the youngest on ‘Basketball or Nothing’ he was named a sophomore captain and has been leading his team when they needed him most.
He even has received praise from his coach. Coach Raul Mendoza praised his talent saying: “He’s one of those kids that you’ll probably see every ten years as a coach or maybe not at all. He’s going to be the GOAT of Chinle, he has that potential”.
